Bronze Star AwardPosted Thursday, June 17, 2004 Required elements 1. Make a table top landscape with models or everyday objects and draw a map of it on a sheet of paper. 2. Circle 4 treasure points and give the map to a friend to find them 3. Draw a simple map of a room and circle 4 to 6 treasure points. Walk between them and draw your route on the map afterwards. 4. Work an approximate scale for your map. 5. Locate 6 treasure points circled by a teacher or a friend on a site map of your school. Visit the treasure points in order and afterwards describe each point accurately and draw on the map the route you followed to locate them. 6. Demonstrate how to orientate a map to the 'ground' a. without a compass and b. with a compass, walk a line drawn on a room map or school map keeping the map orientated and using your thumb to mark progress from point to point. |
