F.A.Q.How good do I need to be?You can start at the Bronze Level with no experience. The NNAS committee recommend a minimum number of hours of training at each level.Can I start at the Silver or Gold level?The course provider would probably ask you about your previous experience and abilities to determine whether such a course would be appropriate for you, but yes this is possible. How much will it cost?Course providers charge various amounts as they offer different types delivery and accommodation. Check with the provider of your choice from the website www.nnas.org.uk When are courses run?Courses can run year round. This will depend on the course provider. Courses are often run at weekends, and some providers are happy to tailor a course to your own dates and needs. Check with the provider of your choice from the website, www.nnas.org.uk. Could I become a course provider?If you hold a BELA award, WGL award, Mountain Leader Award or an orienteering Coaching Award, your organisation or centre could register with the NNAS office to become a course provider. What resources are available for the delivery of the schemes?The NNAS scheme has a teaching guide free to all those registering. The YNSA scheme has a teaching leaflet. For both schemes there are a wide variety of navigation teaching books available, listed under resources in the relevant pages of this website. As a Mountain Leader, am I qualified to assess candidates?Yes you may assess at Bronze and Silver NNAS Level. To assess at Gold Level, we ask that people have had experience of assessing at WGL, ML or BOF Level 4 Award level. See page on this website about ‘Who can assess at Gold level’. Is an assessor allowed to assess those whom he has trained?NNAS committee recommend a different assessor at the gold level. |
