Peter Palmer Obituary 2003

Posted Tuesday, June 29, 2004

Sadly, after a long progressive illness and short period in hospital, Peter Palmer, founder and chairman of the NNAS died at the beginning of November 2003.

Our thoughts, support and best wishes go to Marlene Palmer, who has been his helpmate in
the founding and running of the NNAS, his last great project.

Peter had two abiding interests in his life, teaching children, for whom he had a particular affinity, and orienteering, in which sport he was for some years head national coach. It was with this background that he founded the NNAS in the mid-nineties, with the Young Navigators scheme, a particular love of his, coming along a few years later. The current strength of both schemes results from his and Marlene's constant work and attention over the last ten or more years.

Peter will be remembered by all who met him.
